KNEE ARTHROSCOPY
One of the easiest and shortest invasive diagnostic surgeries I’ve ever assisted. Basically, the purpose is just to view the tendons, ligaments and bone structures in some joints (in this case, the knee). This can be done either with regional or general anesthesia.
Some orthopedic doctors prefer to scrape out inflammatory debris from inside the knee using an arthrotome or arthroscopic shaver (with red pin) under the direct visualization of the arthroscope. Hence, can be termed as meniscectomy - the removal of a torn cartilage (either lateral or medial, depends on the site of scraping).
